Preliminary exercise: Research and planning

1) State the song you have chosen for your preliminary exercise. Flowers ( Miley Cyrus)  2) Choose at least three music videos similar to your concept and watch a clip or more from each. Coursework: Ignite presentation learner response

 1) Type up your feedback in full including the ratings out of five for each of the categories.  Excellent clear introduction with added research ( views of original video) Timing a little out -a lot of text on the slides but not trying to read everything out which is good.  Representation and stereotypes slide is good worth expanding for statement of intent.  Narrative/ performance combination work but need to be a bit more specific in terms of narrative, camera shots and editing.  Mise-en-scene is stronger with some specific ideas e.g. look + feel.  Online element of magazine slide is good for digital convergence. social media too.  Interesting ideas for representation theory but timing delivery little off.  Industry interesting need to check Vevo element is it a record company shoe sponsorship and gender element worth exploring more. Q+A  Great Q on pop/ disco genre + how to create this  Combination of performance and narrative discus...

Coursework: Summer Project 2024

  1) Research: music videos Music Video 1: Narrative Taylor Swift - You Belong With Me This song we can apply Todorov's theory  as well as Propp's theory as the equilibrium is that the artist Taylor as the girl who met the guy which can be the hero and she can be the princess later on they liked each other and got close however the villain which is the new girl with brunette hair who took away the guy from her and separated both of them this is now the dis equilibrium however finally the resolution which was at the end which seems like to be an event like prom where they met again and finally got together as the guy left and ignored the new girl and focused on Taylor his original real love partner where they expose the papers to each other that they wrote but was not able to reveal. we can apply Binary oppositions as the two girls are very opposite and juxtaposed in terms of looks and characters.   Music Video 2:  Camerawork (shots, angles, movement)  ...
