Music video pre-production
1) Music video treatment
scene 1; outdoor different locations in London to highlight the London aesthetic and the country the music video is filmed. As it switches from one place to another throughout the streets of London at different day times. With a colourful screen background changing shapes and colours. Skating park location?
Scene2: Clear studio element white clear blank background with good lighting to contrast the colourful and London streets vibes and aesthetic to make the music video and artist stand out more and so fans can focus on the artist and appreciate them for these couple of clips.
Scene3: Aesthetic cosy bedroom giving the audience and girls specifically personal identity and relating to all of the bedrooms girls can have and maybe a desk and mirror with make-up.
Scene 4: Lots of short clips and videos of buildings to contrast and change a bit with the theme so the artist is not the only one shown to entertain the audiences more. As they can be put at the beginning to start of the music video with the Brand logo and maybe diegetic sound of traffic and cars and natural atmosphere and to make the artist a mystery until the song begins.
2) Mise-en-scene planning
Plan everything that will appear in front of the camera in your music video - and this is vital when it comes to music video and music genre.
Remember CLAMPS: Costume, Lighting, Actors (cast, placement, movement, expression), Make-up, Props, Setting.
Costume
The streetwear clothing with a bit of stylish old money vibes clothing will highlight my target mainstream audience also maybe cosy clothes that you can wear at home like a sweat pants and a hoodie during the scene in the bedroom. The artist may also wear formal professional clothes at some point. Also maybe a scarf around the neck in the exterior scenes.
Lighting
The music video will switch from day to night depending on the song lyrics to give happy and confidence vibes in day time but maybe upset at night times. It will also switch depending on the locations from Interior to exterior , outside I will be using streetlights, shadows, reflected sunlight. However inside I will experiment with creative lighting techniques using windows, blinds, artificial lights, phone flashes and ring lights. I also want to use professional lighting set-up with a white background.
Actors/performers
The key casting is my artist a young teenage girl called Leyla Hadid I am including also maybe a friend of the artist at some scenes throughout the music video.
how will the audience get to know them?
Make-up
Natural but visible looking make-up, I may have a smudged makeup at some point to highlight a crying scene or depressed vibes at the beginning of the song to highlight moving on from her ex.
Props
I will use lots of flowers in scenes to highlight the name of the song and lyrics and also the shoes for sponsorship, maybe some of make-up as products.
Setting
One of my friends or my own bedroom for one scene one at Tottenham court road station in central London. one in the streets of oxford street streets of London scenes next to London eye as well.
